Time to start working on your spring wardwrob with this free knitting pattern that will be a perfect addition.
The bottom ribbing on this pattern is a bit long but that could be adjusted without too much trouble or compromise on style. But it looks cute as it is. And, I love the detail around the neck and of course the fantastic openwork pattern that is front and center on this great pullover.
Size: Directions are for 84 cm or 33″ bust. Changes for the 88, and 92cm or 34 1/2″ and 36″ bust are in brackets.
Materials Required: 200 (250 : 250) gm or 7 (9 :9) oz ecre [100 gm = 300 m or 325 yrds}. Knitting needles are circular needle size 2 (Am) or 11 (Eng). Stitch holder.
Basic Stitch: Stocking or stockinette stitch.
Openwork Pattern: See diagram. Only the right side R (odd-numbered R) are given, the even-numbered R are always purled.
Tension: 28 sts and 40 R = 10cm or 4″
Abbreviations: St(s) = stitch(es) R = row(s) K = knit P = purl.
Cast on 117 (123, 129) sts and work 12cm or 4 3/4″ in K1, P1 rib. Change to Basic Stitch and work straight to 38 (37, 36)cm or 15″ (14 1/2, 14)”.
Cast off 3 sts at beginning of net 2 R, 2 sts at beginning of next 6 R, and 1 st at beginning of next 16 R – 83(89,95) sts. Work straight to 54cm or to 21 1/4″. Cast off center 39 sts and work on each side separately. At neck edge, cast off 2 sts on next 3 R and 1 st on following 2 R. At the same time, shape shoulder at armhole edge when work measures 55cm or 21 1/2″ by casting off 3 (3, 5) sts 1 time, 3 (4,5) sts 1 time, and 4 (5,5) sts 2 times.
Work as for Back to 22cm or 8 1/2″. Follow diagram from R1 to R86, working 1st R thus: K 57 (60,63), K 2 together, make 1, K 58 (61, 64). At the same time, shape armholes to match Back, then work straight to 46cm or 18″. Leave center 55 sts on stitch holder and work on each side separately, shaping shoulder to correspond with Back.
Cast on 76(82,86) sts and work 8cm or 3″ in K1, P1 rib. Change to Basic Stitch and increase 1 st each end of every 4th R 4 times – 84(90,94) sts. Work straight until piece measures 13cm or 5″.
Cast off 3 sts at beginning of next 2 R, 2 sts at beginning of next 6 R, 1 st at beginning of next 34(30,28) R, 2 sts at beginning of next 6(10, 12) R, 3 sts at beginning of next 4 R. Cast off remaining 8(10,12) sts.
Press lightly. Join seams, Pick up front 55 sts and work in K1, P1 rib for 3cm or 1″ for Front border. Cast off in rib. Using circular needle, begin at right Front neck and pick up 123 sts over shoulder, across Back, and over left shoulder, Work back and forth in rib for 3cm or 1″. Cast off in rib. Sew edges of Front border in position as shown in photograph.
