So, I think the 80’s just threw up all over this poor girl, but…. it looks like she and the little Dutch boy and girl can handle it.
This is a free pattern for a crocheted camisole. This pattern is listed as easy to make and I hope that’s true for those of you who want to jump in and tackle this filet crochet retro look. Personally I think it’s kind of cute but I don’t have the guts, or figure to ware it.
PLEASE NOTE: This pattern only has instructions for size small. I am not a pro but I think that any adjustments in size could easily (I’m guessing) be made by increasing the diameter of your beginning chain by an even number.
This vintage retro pattern has very little in the way of written instructions and relies heavily on symbols and charts. I think for some of us this type of pattern can be a bit easier. I will include a guide to the abbreviations and symbols.
Have fun with this. Would love to see pictures if anyone does put this thing together.
SIZE: Small (fits 31 1/2″ bust). Body of camisole = 13 1/2″ high. Straps are about 1 1/2″ wide and 11 3/4″ long.
MATERIALS: White crochet cotton No. 20, about 870 yds in 6-cord or 900 yds in 3-cord quality. Steel crochet hook US size 9. Sewing needle.
GAUGE: 4″ square = 18 1/2 meshes and 19 rows.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
For camisole to fit 32 1/2″ bust, we recommend using crochet cotton No. 10 and steel crochet hook US size 7. (OK, I have no idea why in the materials section they recommended No. 20 cotton and size 9 steel crochet hook. I am puzzled but just typing what I see.)
Begin at waist, ch 408 and join with sl st to form ring. Work in rnds; first dc=3 ch throughout. Close all rnds with sl st in top of ch-3.

Rnds 2-15: Work in open meshes (see Key) as follows: * dc in dc 2ch, rep from * around.

Rnds 57-65: Cont working on om. After completing rnd 65, fasten off.
STRAP (make two)
Attach thread with sl st as per diagram and work across 7 om for 59 rows ( leave 24 meshes at neck edge and 30 meshes at arm edge unworked). First dc=3; ch3, turn each row . After completing row 59, fasten off, leaving long end. Sew each strap in place to correspond.
